Artist Spotlight: Battleme

Battleme

Battleme is the name, former Lions frontman, Matt Drenik uses for his solo project .  He first burst onto the scene as Battleme when he had a few songs appear on the the popular television series “Sons of Anarchy.”  The first song “Burn this Town” closed out season two of “Sons” in perfect fashion.  The insanely infectious acoustic track meshed perfectly with the ending of the series it gave me goosebumps.   He later remade Neil Young’s “Hey Hey My My” for the show and made it sound as good if not better than the original.

Battleme came out with his long awaited Big Score EP in 2010.  A five song EP only lasting about 15 minutes was quite the tease.  After gaining some spotlight, there was hope he would take some of that momentum from that show and run with it.  Instead, we were given a short EP, and I was longing for more.  Finally, in April of this year he released a full length record.  His self titled record “Battleme” includes folky tunes we have been accustom to and added a few more upbeat poppy songs that add a little variety.
