Band Genealogy: The Black Keys

Band members tend to work on other projects when they are not touring or recording.  Most of the super groups that are formed get a lot of publicity.  Smaller projects tend to get over looked.  If one of your favorite artists is doing work on the side, chances are you would like to know about it.  The Band Genealogy section is meant to inform of the extracurricular done by your favorite bands.  Today we look at Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney of The Black Keys musical universe.

Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney side project together:

Blackroc – Self titled album was released in 2009.  A collaborative rap album featuring rap artists RZA, Ludacris, Raekwon, and Q-Tip

They performed the instruments on Ke$sha’s song “Wonderland”

Dan Auerbach:

Dan’s first band he was a part of was called The Barnburners.  Had a 6 track EP called “The Raw Boogie EP”
Dan’s first solo album came out in 2009 “Keep it Hid.”

He has also produced and composed countless tracks and albums for other artists.  Check out this page to see all of the bands he has had a hand in helping out.

Patrick Carney:

Formed a side band called Drummer.  In 2009 released the album “Feel Good Together”

Founder of the label Audio Eagle.  Shut down in 2010.

Guitarist &  backing vocals on Churchbuilder’s “Patty Darling CD

Has produced records for Beaten Awake “Let’s Get Simplified” & “Thunder$troke”

Produced “The Sheepdogs” by The Sheepdogs

Produced “Young and Old” by Tennis
